Undoubtedly one of Georg Jensen’s most recognisable and iconic candleholders, the Cobra’s sensual fluid shape has captured the hearts of many. Seemingly defying gravity, the lightness of the candleholders has a magical effect – one that is doubled when the flickering candlelight is reflected in the surface. This set of three candlesticks – small, medium and large – form a beautiful natural group that seems to sway this way and that. Much like a cobra itself.

The Cobra’s designer, German-born Constantin Wortmann believes that his work shouldn’t be taken too seriously and should evoke an emotional response. ‘Form follows emotions’ is his mantra and the success of this collection proves his point.

Made from stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish, the three candlesticks are durable, weighty and stable.

The Sunflower Collection captures the radiant beauty and energy of its namesake. It’s hard not to smile looking at sunflowers, with their ridiculously bright and happy faces. Turning towards the sun, as though to remind the rest of us to look towards the light and be forever optimistic.

“Last year I planted sunflowers in my garden, watching them evolve from seedlings to fully grown. Only when they blossomed did I remember why they are called girasol in French (sun turning). My neighbors got to enjoy the blooms while I got to understand that, from whatever perspective, sunflowers make me smile.” ~ M.

The Golden Ginkgo Collection takes its inspiration from the intricacies of form and texture found in foliage from around the world. By interpreting plant forms in cast metal, Aram presents work which is evocative of a natural environment transformed and redefined.

“These pieces have wonderfully undulating leaves, which create an almost rococo surface of playful, delicate, and intricate forms. By combining the individual sculpted leaves, the natural forms join to create a complex patterning. I’ve tried to capture that sense of movement and fragility in metal.” ~ M.
